Django and Bata want revenge: World Cup of Pool Doubles Championships

In the 2010 PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool Doubles Championships, billiard icon Efren “Bata” Reyes is ready for the tough grind, which comes off the wraps on Aug. 31 at the Midtown Wing of Robinsons Place in Ermita, Manila.

Reyes said he and his close friend current World 9-ball champion Django Bustamate, known as the “Magician” the world over. Over the fact that they will be facing the Thai pair of Nitiwat Kanjanasri and Surateph Phoochalam, they are excited. It is the same tandem, which beat them last year, 7-4, during their quarterfinal round of the 9-ball doubles in the Laos Southeast Asian Games.

In this six-day event, Reyes and Bustamante of Philippines-A are the defending champions, which offers a total cash prize of $250,000, from which the winning pair will win $60,000. In the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou in December, the two are gearing up to see action, according to Reyes, will help hone their game in time for the Asiad.

Reyes during yesterday’s press conference at the Solar TV headquarters in Makati City said, “Gusto kong maglaro at gusto niyang tumulong sa team. Pero hindi siya nag-qualify sa tryouts. So, binigay ko na sa kanya ang coaching para makapaglaro ako nang husto”.

Since the field also has the tandem of German Ralph Souquet and new partner Oliver Ortmann, Reys said the Thais are not the only hurdle they have to overcome. Last year, Reyes and Bustamante beat Souquet and former partner Thorsten Hohmann for the title.

New Billiards/Snooker boss: Barry Hearn

To take control of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA), Barry Hearn was elected at a meeting Thursday in England.

Hearn, as chairman of the Professional Darts Corporation, brought Darts into the mainstream and says he hopes to do the same with professional Billiards and Snooker.

By 64 of the world’s top players, he was elected by a vote of 35-29. Online betting favorite,
John Davidson who is a former Olympic shooter, backed by Stephen Hendry, Hearn ran against Davidson. Davidson did not obtain the votes needed to gain control of the WPBSA, despite the backing of Davidson by Hendry.

With his congratulations wishes to Hearn, he was, instead very humble. To make various changes in the sport such as higher prize rates, the newly elected pledged. Not only did he promise this eye opener, but he also stated that if he fails he would resign and the players and stockholders will own 49% of World Snooker which he foresees to become an independent business.

For the organization, the news of Hearn’s’ election is a breath of fresh air. In the sports arena, Hearn is not a nobody, he revitalized the darts now he wants to do the same for snooker.

This was not Davidson’s first run for this bidding, as for him. In 2002, he ran for this bidding and did not succeed. At the time, his proposal would have given him 63% in the World Snooker and gave him power for a period of 15 years. Not to mention he also threw in a whopping 5M which is 500,000 more than what Hearn proposed. The players were not going for it, as we saw.

9-Ball pool – 9 ball championship

A contemporary billiard game, 9 – ball pool is just another simple pocket pool game played by many billiard lovers across the world. The recreational game is seen being played in clubs, hotels, bars, etc. Several sponsors organize the 9 ball championship at various international platforms following a list of rules for the entertainment of all its players.

The game is preferably played one-on-one between two players. This interesting game is basically played with unique 9 numbered balls, each colored differently along with the white cue ball. Well, let’s now take a closer look at how the pool balls should be arranged and played.

* Arrange the balls in their numerical order inside the diamond shaped rack. The ball number 1 should be at the foot of the rack while the ball-9 should be placed in the middle of the rack.

* Toss a dice or draw a card to select the two players for the match. The player playing first should hit the ball with number 1 using the cue ball and his stick. Billiard Parlors For Rent

A billiard room is simply defined as a room for group of people who play billiards. There are many billiards parlors nowadays and more and more people including the young and old go to these parlors for night out.

Billiard parlors are exclusively made from the idea of guy’s and ladies time together since it is merely changing these days with the start of billiards parlors or pool parlors. Billiard parlors range from essential to expensive parlors. Upscale billiards parlors normally have a lot of tables that can hold more than 500 guests in few cases and has a bar as well. I wonder if combining a Poker Room and Billiard parlor would be a good idea?

A number of billiard parlors can provide accommodation for private parties, shopping, and even parking, with an array of package deals. During the 1990’s the idea of a billiard parlors was just a room with a billiard tables and sticks and balls to play. Most of it had no ambience but is very useful, just made exclusively for playing billiards. At the moment, the billiards parlors have revolutionized as compared to what the previous billiards room was. A contemporary billiard parlor offers ambience drinks, serves food and offers other kinds of entertainment. Wi-fi music and plasma screen televisions are provided to entertain guests. Normally, a billiard parlor has 40 tables or more along with other games like snooker and other indoor games. Ideally, it’s meant for a group of friends who come to play and doesn’t want to be included to other groups or doesn’t want to share their table with anybody else.

Originally, before snooker was invented, Billiards is already a popular game. A set of rules are implemented before you play the game. Billiards is composed of strategy, preparation and excellence. In this game, players as a rule must have a lot of forethoughts before they play. It is somewhat compared to golf. You cannot learn and master them instantly since there are basic rules and regulations and some code of conduct to be followed while playing it. It is a serious game that needs professional attitude with a lot of concentration, thoughts, strategy and then exercise of mind. It is a game of composure and it doesn’t need all that physical activity but only definite postures that you might develop during the game.

Billiard games uses cue. A cue is a long stick that is used to hit the balls that are kept on the billiard board. Cues are held with both of your hands. The players usually hold one end of the cue and then place the tip of the cue between the fingers of the other hand. Both hands work together to fold the cue firmly before it aims a certain ball. On the other hand, the balls that will be used for the game is arranged on a triangular shape and is located just above the billiards table. The cue is used to hit the balls in order to disperse it and then the game continues after that.

The entire game of billiards actually depends on how the balls are hit by the player for the first time. Right after the first shot, the player must be able to strategize his moves and plan how to hit each ball for him to win the game. In short, victory is the result of a planned effort in the billiards game. In Billiards, a trick shot is something that you do to manipulate the balls, but mostly it is unlikely to happen. Trick shots are practiced expensively and looked at with remarkable interest. Most players practice these trick shots and create new trick shots that can be used during the game. Professional players normally include this billiard trick shot as part of their regular game. In artistic billiards the players usually obtain seventy challenges that they need to complete. However, Billiard competitions that allow trick shots regularly allow the players to complete these trick shots. Indeed, Billiard is one kind of game that you can never take as it comes.
