Ronnie O’Sullivan wins World Snooker Player of the Year Award. In the 2011-12 Snooker Season, he had a superb performance; the 2012 World Snooker Champion Ronnie O’Sullivan has clinched the World Snooker Player of the Year Award. At the Dorchester Hotel, the award ceremony was held and all top dogs of snooker were attended it.

After beating the Captain, Ali Carter in the final by the score line of 18-11 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, the Englishman played outstandingly in the whole season and clinched a couple of major ranking snooker events including the 2012 World Snooker Championship.

In the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 1, the Rocket started his season run with a splendid victory. He made his way successfully into the final encounter against compatriot Joe Perry and he played brilliantly in the event. He cruised into a tremendous victory by the score line of 4-0 in the final and the final clash was a piece of cake for the Essex Exocet.

He continued playing brilliantly in the upcoming snooker events and a superb start of the season gave boost to O’Sullivan’s form. He was not able to win the event despite reaching the semi-final stage where he lost to Mark Selby by 3-4, although he fired a maximum 147 break in the PTC 4 against Adam Duffy. However, the Premier League Snooker (PLS) was where he had second success in the season where he defeated Ali Carter by the score line of 3-1.

He earned another classy triumph in the PTC 7 where he cleared the table against Matthew Stevens by the score line of 4-2, following the PLS win. In the final encounter of the PLS 10, the 36-year-old O’Sullivan made his way where he played against his archrival Shaun Murphy and ousted him by the score of 3-1.

Moving on, in the PLS Finals and hit the final encounter, the four-time World Snooker Championship winner had a tremendous run. He easily trashed him by 7-1 and he went head-to-head with the Chinese potter Ding Junhui.

He achieved a superb victory for him as he won the 2012 German Masters snooker event title beating Scotland’s Stephen Maguire by 9-7 in the second half of the 2011-12 Snooker Season. When he added fourth World Snooker Championship title beating Ali Carter by 18-11, the Wordsley potter finished his season run in style.

Brandon Shuff met and defeated Tour Director Ozzy Reynolds twice in the finals of the Action Pool Tour stop on the weekend of April 14-15. He won five straight on the loss side. The event drew 40 entrants to Break Time in Salisbury, MD and streamed live via The Big Truck Show.

Surviving a double hill battle versus Chris Garret in the opening round of play, Shuff was challenged immediately at this event. The cue ball traveled multiple rails, and hung in a pocket, before dropping in to essentially give Shuff the victory, although at double hill, Stottlemyer actually sunk the 9-ball. Shuff then ran right into Brian Deska and a third straight double hill match that sent him to the loss side.

Among the winners’ side final four, Deska moved on to face Reynolds. Joining them were Fred Scott and Danny Bell. Reynolds moved into the hot seat match against Bell and he downed Deska 9-7. Bell defeated Scott 9-6. Reynolds for the first time since April of 2011 on the Great Southern Billiard Tour, he was in the hot seat and he survived a double hill match against Bell.

Kevin West was defeated Jeremy Perkins 9-6 and Paul Helms 9-2. Deska moved over to face Kevin. Scott picked up Shuff, who, following his loss from Deska, had defeated Josh Brothers 9-3 and Derek Schwager 9-1. Shuff was denied a quarterfinal re-match against Deska and he was downed Scott 9-5. Shuff defeated West 9-7 in those quarterfinals, and followed that with a 9-6 win over Bell in the semifinals.

Reynolds appeared to be on his way to a single set victory in the opening set of the true double elimination finals. Reynolds ran four straight, including two break and runs to take an early 4-1 lead, although Shuff took the opening game. Reynolds added another to stretch his lead to four games at 7-3 and they traded racks to 6-3. Reynolds won the 13th rack to reach the hill first and Shuff won two in a row to narrow that lead to two games. Shuff forced a second set by winning four straight.

Shuff came back to break and run the second rack and add five more for a commanding 6-1 lead, although Reynolds opened the second set with a win. Reynolds next game proved to be his last. Shuff won the second set and it was three wins in a row.

Cheryl Sporleder claimed the 8-entrant Second Chance Tournament title by defeating her husband, Sean Sporleder. She had gone on to shut out Paul Oh in the semifinals and he had defeated her in the hot seat match 5-2. She returned to double dip him in the finals.

There are plenty of things to know before you try out the 9ball pool game. Some of the tips, shots and strategies have been discussed below.

Break

When breaking, hit the 1-ball in the rack straight on. A tip’s height above center is place to hit the cue ball and have it strike the 1-ball flush. The key is to control the cue ball.

Position

9 Ball is a game of defense and position. By the lowest-numbered ball on the table, the ball you shoot is determined for you every time, meaning you must hit that ball first every shot. Leave the cue ball somewhere where your opponent is denied a clear shot, if you do not have a realistic shot.

Strategy

9 Ball is incredibly tricky game. The 9 ball is the one that wins the game, even if you make the first eight balls. Never leave your opponent an easy shot and always think about leaving yourself in position for your next shot. If you are playing for money and you have a chance at hitting the object ball into the 9 ball and making it, then take it.

Execution and Aiming Techniques

Beginners need to be learning Basic shots, which are the fundamental shots in order to advance to the next level of shot making. The basic shots of the game are shots like Stop, Draw, and Follow.

For a beginner, being able to understand how the cue ball reacts after colliding with the object ball entails basic position play. You need to control the cue ball to make it go where you need it to be for your next shot.

Use English to get to make a transition over from beginner to intermediate level pool player. When you apply sidespin on the cue ball is English. With regards to shot making and/or position, English allows you to more options.

To learn advanced level shots to add to your offensive arsenal, Bank Shots and Kick Shots are crucial. By using a cushion to bounce the object ball into before it goes to the intended pocket, Bank shots allow you to pocket an object ball. Kick shot allows you to hit the object ball by getting the cue ball to strike a cushion first before the object ball.

World No 1 John Higgins clinched a thrilling 13-10 victory against Ronnie O’Sullivan and will now face two time world champion Mark Williams in the semi finals of this year’s £1.1m tournament in Sheffield.

Ahead of the concluding session of the pair’s best of 25 quarter final clash locked at 8-8, Higgins has sparkled since returning from a six month ban dug deep to win the opening frame of the evening. Before fellow triple world champion O’Sullivan leveled matters with a 116 break a break of 47 did the trick.

Thanks to breaks of 63 and 65, Higgins once again demonstrated his strong character to pull two frames ahead. After the midsession interval to pull within one frame of victory it got even better for the determined Scot as he pocketed a 73 break.

Higgins missed a simple pot on the pink and O’Sullivan pounced to reduce his arrears with an excellent 94 break in the next frame. To book his place in the next round, however, the 35 year old Higgins made a break of 79 in the next frame.

Having missed a match winning chance in the previous frame, Higgins admitted he had a big slice of luck in what proved to be the deciding frame. Higgins accidentally potted a red to a middle pocket and he made no mistake at the second time of asking to make sure of his place in the next round, attempting a safety shot.

This is the most prestigious event in the history of snooker in terms of prize money and ranking. Best players from across the globe are going to fight for this monumental championship.

Neil Robertson, the defending champion of the tournament, is also the first Australian to win the championship at the Crucible Theatre in 2010 is going to raise the curtains on 16 April with Judd Trump. Last year’s defending champion is supposed to inaugurate the championship title, as per the format and tradition.

By beating Mark Selby with a frame score of 10-8 in the 2011 Bank of Beijing China Open final, Trump, who is 21 years old and hails from Bristol, won his first championship title. In the Beijing University Students Gymnasium in China, the tournament was held. Trump came out with a triumph and has all the paraphernalia of skills to display similar kind of performance in the Crucible Theatre, in spite of all odds and high ranked players in the lineup.

Mark Selby has been cut to 13/2 joint second favorite by the sponsors for this year’s Betfred.com World Snooker Championship.

In the quarter finals Graeme Dott and Robertson can have a probable clash. To win the last year’s title, Robertson defeated Dott. Both of them will have to make it through the first two rounds though. Robertson would meet Marco Fu in the last-16 if he comes victorious in his second game against Dott. In round 2, Graeme Dott and Ali Carter can also face each other.

The seven time world champion, Stephen Hendry, will take on Mark Selby in last16, provided if they clear the first round. Selby came on the top when they faced each other in 2010.

Even though the Bulldogs equalized on Ron Elbert’s similar 7-6 win over Robbie Soqueco in 9- ball, Rennel Dugos edged Reynold dela Fuente, 7-6, in 10-ball as the Pirates seized the lead.

In order to clinch the win in the event organized by Perry Mariano of Bugsy Promotions and Reli de Leon, Lyceum’s Enrico Lat Jr. and Jhunee Manarang nipped Albritz Navarro and dela Fuente, 5-4, in a topsy-turvy 8-ball duel.

As the first winners of the league backed by Accel, H20 Hotel, Manila Ocean Park, Star Publications, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Negros Billiards Stable, Malungai Life Oil, Niknok Pritson Manok, Hermes Sports Bar, Human Plus, Star Billiards Center, Brunswick, Bugsy Promotions, Mediacom, San Miguel Corporation, GSM Blue, PBA Party List and TV5, Lyceum thus joined Xavier, which ruled the juniors side.

Even though Lat made a scratch while trying to pocket the black 8, enabling the Bulldogs to snatch the rack and the next two to move ahead, 3-2, the Pirates took the first two racks in the 8-ball decider.

Although Manarang made a bad shot, allowing NU to force a hill-hill game, Lyceum, however, fought back and took the next two to wrest back the lead. Other than the Pirates prevailed in a duel of safeties with Lat clinching the victory for the team.

While NU turned back fancied Univ. of the East, 2-1, in their own side of the semis duel in the semis, Lyceum beat elims topnotcher St. Clare College of Caloocan, 2-0.

By defeating Andrew Higginson 10-6 in the final round of the qualifiers, Welshman Andrew Pagett entered the first round of Betfred.com World Snooker Championship 2011. Pagett is making his debut at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield this April since 2003 when he turned professional. Sensationally crushing Zhang Anda (China) 10-6, Belgium’s Bjorn Haneveer 10-4, Nigel Bond of England 10-9 and Englishman Andrew Higginson 10-6, the world number 78 made his run to the last 32.

After edging final frame thriller against Jack Lisowski, six-time world champion Steve Davis has gone through to the final qualifying round. The 19 year old Lisowski pushed one of the snooker greats, Davis, all the way. Three centuries of 121, 101, and 105 were produced during the match, apart from other classy breaks.

At the World Snooker Championships, Barry Hawkins will take his place for the sixth successive year next month after he successfully came through qualifying. The Dartford potter edged the first session against Anthony Hamilton 5-4 in Sheffield on Sunday night, but breaks of 71, 64 and 69 helped him cruise to a 10-5 victory.

At Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre, the World Snooker Championship will take place between April 16 and May 2. Neil Robertson will no doubt attract plenty of snooker bets as he will be hoping to retain the crown he won last year. In online sports betting sites, odds for 2011 World Snooker championship has not yet published.

While Frankie Hernandez took down the open division, Tony Liang recovered from a late loss to win the Second Annual Predator Tour Empire State Amateur Championships. By winning five matches to reach the hot seat match, Clive Rose dominated the winners’ bracket where he defeated Liang 8-4. In the semifinals 8-6, Liang then bounced back to defeat Naldo Troncoso. This event marked a strong performance for Troncoso, taking his highest finish on the tour to date. After an early loss to Gail Glazebrook, Naldo put on a display of heart to come back. By placing fourth after losing a tight hill-hill match to Troncoso, Stewart Warnock also had a great run. Liang earned a rematch in the finals against Rose, after he eliminated Troncoso where the tables were turned in his favor, as he won 10-6.

Hernandez had a spectacular day in the open/pro 10-ball event, playing nearly flawless pool. His road to the finals included wins over Tony Robles 8-3, Chris Laz 8-3, and Oscar Bonilla 8-5 in the hot seat match.

At the Newport Centre the 2011 Welsh Open runs from February 14th to 20th and will feature the top 16 players in the world, plus 16 qualifiers.

In the world ranking event, John Higgins, Neil Robertson, Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Williams and many more of the sport’s top stars are all set to compete.

With matches to be best of seven frames, with no intervals, up until the last 16 stage, this year’s Welsh Open boasts a brand new format. There are only two tables in the arena, so every match can potentially be televised by BBC Wales.

At next week’s Welsh Open, resurgent Gwent snooker star Mark Williams hopes to continue his winning streak. With a 9-7 victory over Mark Selby in the final, Williams won the German Masters last Sunday. Even though now he is targeting success much closer to home, it was the 18th world ranking title of his career and eight of those have come overseas.

Left-hander Williams, who is now up to second place in the world rankings, his highest position since 2005 said, “It’s a really special tournament for me and for Matthew and Ryan too, but with it comes its own pressures. I don’t think the three of us have done ourselves justice at the Welsh Open really and it’s time for one of us to get our name on the trophy – and obviously I hope that will be me.”

By losing the final 10-9 to Higgins, having led 9-5, twice world champion Williams narrowly missed out on the 12BET.com UK Championship in December, as well as he was relieved not to lose another close final against Selby in Berlin, as he was hauled back from 7-4 to 7-7 before taking the last two frames.

It was announced that the latest officially licensed snooker title World Snooker Championship Real 2011 would be distributed by Koch Media. Dark Energy Sports is a different developer in this newest virtual simulation of the sport, taking over from Blade Interactive, the creators of World Snooker Championship 2007 and World Snooker Championship 2009.

The face of Dark Energy Sports’ World Snooker Championship 2011 will be the three times Snooker World Champion Ronnie O’Sullivan. For PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, the game will be distributed by Koch Media in Q2 2011.

Enabling snooker fans to compete against one another around the globe, WSC Real 2011 will feature real players, real venues and real tournaments, plus full online multiplayer. The game features all the top players, a dynamic challenge mode and a rewind time system, all the official tournaments of the 2010/11 snooker season and a new graphics and lighting system. The game will also feature the ability to replay shots from any angle.

With an enhanced super slow-mo rewind system, WSC Real 2011 allows virtual snooker players to manipulate time and re-live their best (and worst) shots. From any camera angle: fast forward, rewind, and even retake shots, players can replay the action of any shot and any frame.

“Full online multiplayer” is something that seems to be placing particular emphasis. Since World Snooker Championship 2009 has online multiplayer features, this does not sound like a major overhaul. Here is hoping that this time around, online multiplayer means that modes that are more multiplayer will be made available.

It will be interesting to see if the new development team can make World Snooker Championship Real 2011 attractive to a wider audience, although this game should appeal to snooker fans. World Snooker Championship Real 2011 is slated for release in Q2 2011.
